Trainspotting With Sticktalk

Sticktalk is a new breed of US talent who has made a mark on the underground with his innovative soundscapes and genre-blurring techno arrangements. He hails from Houston, a town with a diverse musical heritage that takes in everything from screwed Hip Hop, y2k R&B, and plenty of alternative cultures. All of that feeds into his work on labels like Perfect Dark, Freq System’s .mpfr3q and Clan Destine: it is eclectic, infused with rap, street and fresh rhythms and has had support from artists like BASSBEAR!!, Bae Blade and Christian Tokyo. As his new ‘Crime Fetish EP’ lands on Darkroom Bureau, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with Sticktalk.

Rosei City – Slowdive – In Mind (Reload Remix (The 147 Take) (Rosei City Remix) – Self-Release

A club spin on a cult classic. Slowdive you can dance to!? Yes please. I love the soundscapes, pulsating synths, and layers going on here. Ethereal club vibes.

DJ Miss Parker – Groovy, i love u –  Gyration Station

A LOT of funky, loop driven grooviness going on here. the different groups of layered stabs really pop out and grab at me, and the vocal sample just makes this sound so sexy.

Onirico – No Me Falles –  Self-Release

Fast, pumping, and rhythmic/ vocal driven latin booty techno. Drop this and watch the floor go into a frenzy.

Onirico - No Me Falles

Sewa – ZetaZetaZeta –  Freq System

Absolutely mental Cyber Techno with ancestral rhythms, and super futuristic sound design. There is a lot going on here (in the best way possible) This track really takes me to another dimension, sonically.

BABY HELL – Fashion Diaspora – Self-Release

Minimal, dusty, drum work out. Real Texas Techno right here. The ambient pads, perfect amount of reverb, and some 909 sprinkled on top makes this one a must have in your arsenal. Shout out to the murda. 817 shit fr.

Baby Hell - Fashion Diaspora

Lucia Beyond – Sweat – Freq System

Love this funky and filling baseline. the layered stabs are my absolute favourite, and the layering of the vocals on top of everything really just makes this track so fun and interesting to me. Probably one of my fave baselines out of this list.

Big Ace – THROW THAT – Self-Release

The definition of Southern Club Music. Booty music but make it Houston. Some footwork elements and spacey synth work make this an infectious, and powerful piece of weaponry. Lots of vocal samples on here. Perfect Tool for me personally. RIP Beat King.

BIG ACE - THROW IT

Trax Unit – Jackin’ Bug –  Gyration Station

I’ve dropped this track at every gig I played since it came out. Beautiful stabs, funky grooves, pumping baseline, and gorgeous vocals over the top make this one perfect for any peak time situations. Every time I play this the floor goes crazy.

Loprofile – Essential –  Freq System

Nostalgic, tribal, grimey underground Techno. This is a mad tool, with the occasional vocals he drops in there while the drums drop out. Heavy locked grooves. This track screams renegade to me. Shout out to the 915.

Muñec – From the Back – Self-Release

Sweaty, raunchy, Techno from the DFW queen. I love the pounding kicks, thumping bass and classic hi hat rhythm that when paired with the crazy vocal sample makes this a dance floor weapon suitable for that late night renegade situation.
