Wall of Sound

Where there’s a wall, there’a a way!

Ring the alarm! Wall Of Sound is back and firing on all 19 cylinders (the label is 20 years young in 2013!) with some quality events lined up for the merry merry month of May.

Mark Jones’s pioneering label has brought the world acclaimed acts such as the Propellerheads, Royksopp, Les Rythmes Digitales,  The Bees, Reverend & The Makers, Aeroplane, I Am Kloot, The Wiseguys and many more  since its inception in the early-90s. It has also released albums and singles by artists as varied as Grace Jones to Mogwai, Scala and the Kolacny Brothers to The Human League, Tiesto v Diplo  to The Jolly Boys. Now back to being fully independent again, the label has some exciting things to announce.

This bank holiday weekend, Wall of Sound will be hosting – Rock N Roast – at the Camden Crawl on Sunday May 6th. Featuring some of the next generation of Wall Of Sound acts, the daytime bash at the celebrated Lock Tavern in Camden sees grime funkster Saskilla, electro-blues duo Killaflaw from Liverpool, US singer-songwriter Mayaeni and epic synth-poppers Echoes all playing live throughout the afternoon. These exciting new acts are set to be joined by some notorious WoS originals on the decks – Jon Carter, Mekon, and Mark Jones himself.

It’s a busy month for city festivals and the label will be making it’s independent return to them all. Next stop will bet the Great Escape in Brighton, followed by Liverpool Sound City. Mark will be speaking on one of the Great Escape industry panels ‘ What would you do to Radio 1 ? ‘ and is currently hatching some plans for a proper escapade by the sea. The event has been created to raise money and awareness of the Hep C campaign – Get Tested! Music and discussion are  powerful ways to effect change. The event will be located at Pikes hotel, the home of the wild Freddie Mercury Parties back in the early 80’s. Mark will be hosting the panel debate of Ibiza scene leading lights in this perfect setting for a man who’s been there through it all to lead the narrative and bring to life the history of the legendary Ibiza party scene.

Following all these exciting live events, Wall Of Sound will be celebrating the return of Mekon, who was the  labels very first signing, with the release of his indie -industrial single ‘ Bin There Done That ‘ feat Pig .
