The German producer at the top of his game. Dancefloors will never be the same again
Welcome to DMCWORLD Yves – a stunning new release ‘Never’ coming out at via Milk & Sugar Recordings – talk us about the history of this tune…
“Hi guys! It’s my pleasure. ‘Never’ is the 10th single of my career and at the same time my 8th release on the German label Milk & Sugar Recordings. As I switched from Cubase to Logic before doing this track it took quiet a long time to finalise. My idea behind this track was to combine classic house elements and soca rhythm influenced beats with fresh up-to-date synth sounds. The vocals are performed by D’Layna from the US. I am very happy with the result”
Two great remixes by Coqui Selection and Peter Brown – why were these two selected to for the rework?
“Last year Peter Brown offered me to a remix swap. I didn´t have to think twice and immediately accepted the offer. He gave me the parts for ‘Save The Drums’ and I gave him the parts for ‘Never’. That’s how we came together. The story with Coqui is a little bit different: Lately I had noticed that more and more of his original and remix productions were finding their way into my DJ sets. So I thought it was about time to get in touch with this guy from Valencia. The first contact was via a Soundcloud message and Coqui was very sympathetic in our first conversation. He loved the idea of the track and finished his remix within one week. I have to say that I really value both artists a lot for their work in the past years and I appreciate very much to have them on board.”
Where did you first road test it – was the reaction what you expected?
“I usually do not try to expect something when testing a new production. The first test with ‘Never’ took place in my residency in Nuremberg in Germany. I was thrilled about the reactions as the track was electrifying the whole club within seconds…”
You have also got dancefloors going crazy with your remix of Gianni Coletti vs Keejay Freak’s – Another Star – talk us through this massive tune…
“When I had the chance to sign this track with the famous Stevie Wonder sample for Diamondhouse Records in GSA I simply had to do it. And it was an obvious next step for me to deliver an own remix on top. It is more than incredible what happens with it right now. ‘Another Star’ is the most successful remix that I’ve ever produced. Big thanks go out to all the people who are supporting me.”

You hail from a idyllic village near the Lake of Constance in southern Germany, now residing in Munich. How on earth did you develop a love for dance music in the first place living there – who were you listening to and how?!
“From an early age I have been into travelling. At the age of 17 I visited the wonderful island of Ibiza for the first time. At that time I was fully on the skateboard trip and only listened to Hip Hop music from guys like Gangstarr, KRS One, The Roots, NAS, Poor Righteous Teachers and such. When I came to Ibiza I was infected with the House virus from the first day on and followed this passion until today. One of the first house DJs that made me fall in love with this genre was Jonathan Ulysses on the Space Terrace.”
Aside from your DJing and producing, one of the many other things you run is your own Diamondhouse Records label – what are the plans for 2012?
“Actually the biggest plan for this year has been fullfilled already. The launch of our new website www.diamondhouse.biz. It was a hell of a work to conclude this project. More than 600 sound files had to be implemented as well as all the release information, artworks, artist profiles etc. With this website we now have everything in one place and our fans are able to find all the details concerning the label easily with one klick. Besides a tight release schedule the next step will be expanding our Diamondhouse event sector.”
Another part of your life is holding down the post of A&R department of the mighty Milk&Sugar Recordings – what have we got coming out this summer from this famous label?
“After my single ‘Never’. new mixes of Milk&Sugar’s ‘Let The Sun Shine’ are due for release. Tocadisco and Analog People in a Digital World did a great job here. Furthermore we have signed tracks from My Digital Enemy, Sean Finn & Timo Graf feat. Carolina Lopez, Jason Chance feat. Michelle Weeks, Reza, Etienne Ozborne & Chris Montana feat. Shovell amongst many others.”
You have DJ’d all over the world – we have seen you rock Brazil and Moscow! Which club from around the world remains true in your heart as your favourite to date?
“I can’t really name one particular club here as there are so many, but I consider it a privilege having been able to visit so many countries through my work. I loved playing for 8000 people in Brazil as well as I was blown away by the atmosphere at King Kamehameha Beach in Frankfurt, Catwalk Barcelona, Pacha Munich or in general the crowds allover Poland. I think it’s always more about the moment and the crowd than about a particular club or event.”
What is the greatest record you have ever played to a dancefloor?
“One record which will always stay in my heart is DJ Chus pres. The Groove Foundation – ‘That Feeling’ (De Poniente Mix)’. I have so many great memories of the times when I played this tune.”
Tell us about your studio set up…
“My studio set up is quiet simple. Logic Pro 9, Tascam US-144 Interface, M-Audio Keystation, Roland JP-8000 and Adam A7 speakers.”
What would consist a perfect day off for you?
“Waking up early in Formentera, having a good breakfast, playing tennis, going to a beautiful beach until midday, having lunch, doing a short siesta, then a couple of hours producing, going to the beach again to enjoy the evening sun and sunset, preparing for the night, taking the boat to Ibiza, visiting friends for having dinner together, going to the club”
Who are the emerging German producers we should be looking out for in 2012…
“Without a doubt Thomas Gold is one of the names to mention here. Though he has been in the business for such a long time now, I think this year is and will become even bigger for him. I really dig his track ‘Sing2Me“. Further names I would mention are Tujamo and Plastik Funk. Their tune ‘WHO“ is a massive track. It is quiet tough but still very funky, which I personally like very much.”
And looking across the dance globe, what big producers from around the world are you giving high fives to right now?
“Franky Rizardo, Rober Gaez, Ruben Alvarez, Roul & Doors, Ralph Good, Maceo Plex, John Monkman…”
You have remixed some classic stars, which rework though are you most proudest of?
“Definiteley Bob Sinclar’s’ ‘I Feel For You’ because it’s not even a house remix. Furthermore it has always been one of my favorite club tracks. Together with my Diamondhouse partner and friend Chris/BK Duke as well as with Sax & piano player Axel B. we did the first chillout version ever of this classic. The overall feedback was amazing.”
If you could choose any artist to get into the studio and do a collab with, who would it be?
“David Penn. I am a big fan of his work and musicality. He always creates grooves to die for. Can’t remember any of his tracks that didn’t work perfectly in my sets.”
Not many people know this, but Yves Murasca is really good at…
“Cooking…”
Who is the most famous person on your mobile phone?

What did you love and hate about living in Munich?
