‘Trust’ – Summer is here…

A big summer anthem swinging our way at the end of July, Detroit’s Seth Troxler on board for ‘Trust’ out on Souvenir. Ali, talk us through the new tune…
“It was a spontaneous idea in Miami this year to ask Seth if he’d be up for a collaboration – and here’s the result – the spur of a moment booty shakin´ raw energy – welcome to ‘Trust’.”

Ali and Basti – two of the most famous brothers in dance – Ali, how did this amazing journey begin – at what stage of your young career’s did you decide music was where you wanted to be heading?
“I was running two clubs (on-u, red dog) from 1990-1997 in Stuttgart, which was the place where it all began. Besides running the places, Basti and myself were also the resident DJs. One day we started to tag-team – and we loved it, so we founded Tiefschwarz in 1995 and started to produce our own music.”

What albums/musicians did you both grow up to listening to – whowere your influences?
“Basti was all over Rock and Punk – Dead Kennedy’s etc. Me? Pop, Rock, pop, ABC, Davis Bowie, Prince etc.”

You hail from Stuttgart, what is the club scene like there andwhich city’s in Germany are the current cool places to go clubbing, you have residencies for instance in Berlin at Watergate and RobertJohnson in Frankfurt…?
“Easy one to answer. We have been living in Berlin for eight years now. Berlin is the night capital of the world right now.”

Your sound has developed over the years, the name Tiefschwarz I believe means ‘deep black’ in German, a combination of your surname and you’re once upon a time, love of Deep House. These days however your DJing style encompasses a much more dirty, Electro House vibe – what artists are you bigging up in the Deep House circles and your current top 10 tunes you are playing today?
“Back then, all of the Masters At Work records and the whole Nu Groove catalogue.
