The 2009 DMC UK heats kicked off in the South West with a big bang, which included a dynamic touring team – Including two Supremacy World Champions and new host Inja!
Staged at the White Rabbit club in Plymouth which also boasted a new sound system, the event proved to be a exciting one as the eager crowd where entertained through local PA’s as well as the generous DMC give a way’s which was the perfect opportunity for our new Host Inja to introduce himself & show why he is the perfect candidate to step into MC Trips shoes.
The afternoon eliminations placed a record selecting and funky juggling Pandamonium as the firm favorite but close on his heels was X-Rated and Rasp giving me the impression it would be a the three man race, the evening competition saw a total reverse order in the results with just a point difference between them .
3rd place: Pandamonium unfortunately made some mistakes on the night which was a real shame as he showed a complete package, with good arrangements, Scratches and most notable funky head nodding Beat juggles using original records that the crowd could also recognize.
2nd place: X-Rated put on a very clean and clear performance using the expected customized battle records. X-Rated was well balanced in all his techniques and even performed some good old body tricks!
1st place went to a very surprised Rasp who also used customized vinyl, he was clean and entertained the Plymouth crowed throughout, maybe the point difference was awarded on musical preferences. For that opinion you would have to ask our Supremacy Champions 2008 the UK’s DJ Switch and 2007 from the US Shiftee who also judged.
The evening concluded with this year’s guest showcases our present & previous Supremacy Champions, introduced excellently from our new host Inja who also performs his own PA laced with dynamic off the head freestyles, a special staged UK VS US Supremacy competition is a must see! Aggressive introductions are thrown back and forth between each Champion and backed up by pure skills, so who won? I think it’s best to let you make your minds up on that one, I dare you to miss the following heats to come!?!
