Show And Tell
Out There And Doing It…

Miss Tania Von Pear – One of dance music’s rising stars,

Tania… 2003 – a big year for you DJing at Tribal Gathering, but you started out in a girl duo DJ set up called Lovely Pear- what was all that about and why did you go solo?
“Lovely Pear was my start as a DJ, but to be honest it was such a long time ago now that I feel my career really started when I went solo as a DJ at Tribal Gathering, headlined the funky room at The Cross (I miss that place so much) and then signed to Ministry of Sound Radio. It was nice to be a part of a duo but I relished the freedom of being out on my own…”

You are known as a DJ renowned for playing simply class music – who was your inspiration when you were on the other side of the decks?
“In the beginning it was definitely Roger Sanchez and he remains one of my all time heroes alongside Danny Tenaglia and Francois K. These days I am inspired by Mark Knight and his sound – I feel he is the leading DJ in the house scene so I especially pleased to have just joined his label to look after the worldwide events – Toolroom Knights.”

What tunes over the years stand out for you?
“My favourite tune of all time is Fonda Rae’s ‘Livin In Ecstasy (Francois K mix)  on Wave Records. Possibly the sexiest lyrics of all time on vinyl.”

Ibiza and Pacha – must have been some crazy nights!
“Ibiza is always crazy – I think they must put something in the air conditioning system at the airport for when you land! I prefer to get in and out of the island as quickly as possible these days. A) So I don’t lose my marbles and B) so i don’t spend all the cash in my bank account!”

Your radio show on Ministry of Sound Radio – not easy to slot into being a radio presenter – tell us about it all..
“I’ve loved my time with Ministry of Sound Radio, but after nearly five years ago I decided it was time to move on and did my last show two weeks ago. Very sad but some amazing times on air spinning great records and interviewing some absolute legends.”

Current big floorfiller?
“Paul Thomas, Mark Knight & Funkagenda (MK’s Clubby Mix) on Toolroom – absolutely massive at The Crobar in Buenos Aires.”

Clubs or airports – where do see more DJs?
“Oh airports every time – I saw Filthy Rich at the weekend coming out of Departures, always nice seeing him!”

What the fuck was DJing in Lithuania like?
“A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. DJing in Eastern Europe is one of the best places in the world. The Hynotic Club in Iasi, Romania is another big favourite of mine”
