ANABEL ENGLUND – LONDON HEADACHE – DEFECTED

It’s a rare occasion when I can hear something I like in every mix on a package but Anabel Englund’s ‘London Headache’ achieves that high accolade.  My favourite mix is Crookers’ bumping Chi-town beast with its suede covered kick and muzzy sub bass. The vocal loop works a treat and the bottle hits add just enough brightness to give it day time and not just club play. The original Is a chilled and sexy, funky french-sounding pop excursion that, despite its age, will no doubt grace every Miami / beach house compilation for 2017. Purple Disco Machine deliver a low slung, percussive disco reworking with a live bass line and guitar section that Nile Rodgers would be proud of. It’s a head, heart and body trip that won’t hurt your feet a bit.
