Cream Ibiza Mixed By Above & Beyond

Above & Beyond are surely the most consistent DJs in trance music – it seems that through all of their ‘Anjunabeats’ series, they’ve never mixed a bad compilation. It’s the case again with this ‘Cream Ibiza’ contribution, with two powerfully mixed sets that move seamlessly between a more chilled kind of trance and a ferocious bass line or two. The first mix is the best by a short head, with some thrilling whooshes of sound on Mat Zo’s ‘The Sky’, then a cracking riff on Marc Marberg’s ‘Megashira’. Having started off chilled the trio are really working the room. CD2 has a similar trajectory, and moves a bit more towards the mainstream with Eric Prydz’s strong remixes of M83’s ‘Midnight City’ and Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’, but dazzles also with the expansive breakdown and raking bass of Norin & Rad’s ‘Pistol Whip’. Each mix ends with the vocals of Richard Bedford, wrapping up the first with ‘Thing Called Love’ and the second with the more reflective ‘Sun & Moon’. Too good to miss.
