DJ Sabb’s debut album is a collection of eight finely crafted tracks that feel like a very personal labour of love, tapping into the human spirit and condition at every turn over chunky, minimal house beats. Sabb’s production is excellent throughout, the strong grooves powering ‘Somebody To Love’, ‘Jeopardized’ and ‘Full Moon Tale’, all given good hooks and fulsome basslines. The Kosovan born, Swiss-based DJ is father to one-year-old Leana, and her voice features in the unusual ‘Leana’s Play’, a carefree snapshot of a child’s innocent approach to life that is surprisingly easy to dance to! On the same level ‘Motherlove’ is quite dreamy, while ‘Missing Home’ is really well crafted and has a strong sense of longing in its main riff. Sabb’s music works equally well at home, on the move or in the club – plenty to satisfy each environment. It’s grounded, very human music – but will make you dance too.
