Amazingly, this is the very first official Glastonbury DVD compilation, which, when you think of the wealth of material available to them, you’ve got to wonder why they’ve not done it before now. As indicated in the title, the focus is the last ten years of live performances, chosen by fans via an official website poll, featuring memorable sets from Franz Ferdinand, Moby, Basement Jaxx, Prodigy, Primal Scream, Faithless, and a host of others (twenty in total). They’ve managed to get the cross-section just about right – indie, pop, dance and rock – and it’s obviously been put together with much reverence and care. Extras include A Visit To Glastonbury Greenfields and Glastonbury by Air, and an interview with Michael & Jean Eavis from 1995. Okay, so it’s not like going to Glastonbury and experiencing it first hand, mud and all, but it’s not meant to be. Instead it’s a handy snapshot of one of the UK’s best annual music events, hopefully the first of many such releases.
