Skrein teams up with ASM (A State Of Mind) to produce some conscious
altering hip-hop, bringing on board MC’s Funky Poet & Green-T (both of whom
featured on Wax Tailor’s “Hope & Sorrow” long player). “Pre-Emptive
Nostalgia” is like three times distilled vodka – it’s so pure, it’s like
ice, reflecting both the old-school genuflection and the true school
re-evaluation, fluid beats slicing crisply through mellow jazz vibes and
allowing each MC to ride without it descending into a war of the egos. Both
the production values and the lyrics tell you that these guys live for
hip-hop – feel the passion and have your respect for underground hip-hop
reinvigorated.
