What we’ve got here is a two track taster of the new Mos Def album “The New Danger”. First up is “Sex Love & Money”, a sparse drum, percussion, brass & flute number, giving off a sleazy back alley feel, which wouldn’t sound out of place in West Side Story. On the flip you’ll find the killer “Ghetto Rock”, which contains bassline & rhythm of the year, offset with lead guitar riffage, riding on one of the dirtiest low slung grooves I’ve ever been lucky enough to come across. Both cuts come in Radio, Instrumental & LP mixes. You better get your skates on, coz this 12” is promo only. No fisticuffs in the record shop now please.
