Hotmood aka Guillermo Gonzalez is a very busy man: Beside running his own Discoweey label he is cooking music for the best Nu Disco labels on this planet and has a very unique output on imprints like Tropical Disco, Masterworks, Mango Sounds, Sure Cuts and many more. His newest EP is a very special one and it sure is as well for a guy called Jesus Rodriguez, better known as Monsieur Van Pratt, who himself is a very successful Disco artist. This is because Rodriguez just has founded his own label called Super Spicy and Hotmood’s ‘Ayaaa EP’ is the premier release. Besides a clever name for the imprint from Mexico, it is the music that impresses on the first offering. Title track ‘Ayaaa’ is a mega funky uptempo Disco House affair with plenty of late 70s synth riffs, a serious bassline and solid beats that flow perfectly along with the Latin esque vocal snippets. On the flip, it is ‘We Got The Power’ which is probably even better. A typical dirty Hotmood Disco groove that has got enough power, horn sections and trumpets to fill any funky floor immediately. All in all, this is a promising start for the new label of Monsieur Van Pratt. Can’t wait for more.
