Almost 17 years after its first release on Rham Records, that guy Gerald’s stripped down, eerie classic still has enough unique originality, to inspire two “unnofficial” and unrelated remixes. On their white label release, The Whores do their usual punched-up rhythmic skills, mainly re-editing and beefing up the rhythm tracks for contemporary dancefloors. On “rotgut” records, meanwhile, DJ Spen goes on a bit of a jazz odyssey, putting the “ooh-aah-aah’s” fully at the front with a very stark sound, also adding some sax and washes of keyboard.I played this one out over Xmas and it divided opinion(not to mention the dancefloors!. Yer pays yer money, yer takes yer choice. Still sounds fresher than most new tracks you’ll hear out and about.
