Hot new Swiss producer Alci kicks off his series of releases for Robsoul with this notable four-tracker of fine and rather twisted Disco. Moving beyond easy loops played out over basic drums this progresses the genre in an altogether more futuristic direction with its creative use of drums, funky bass and hooky vocal snippets, which are perhaps best experienced on ‘Some Snitches’. Allowing for the fact that you may have absolutely no idea where the samples have evolved from only adds to the mystery and excitement of what happens next. But whatever does occur it’s always guaranteed to be heavy-duty, dangerously repetitive, and explosive.
