Loner is one Geoff Smith, who has been a classically trained pianist since the age of eight. The cinematic sound of Loner’s songs are usually quite distant, bleak and haunting, but “I’m Not Sorry” is warm upbeat pop that sounds like a hit from yesteryear by a band that you don’t really know much about, but every time you hear the song on the radio you find yourself knowing all the words as you sing along. Loner’s “I’m Not Sorry” could be the 21st century equivalent to Matthew Southern Comfort’s “We Are Stardust”. Yeah, it really is that good.
