Alex ‘Tigerskin’ Kruger pops up on the LA-based label with a complex outing managing to weave together elements old and new. It starts acid over an old school hump-groove, lashed with disembodied rap vocals and building its own twisted aural tapestry. Soma’s Berlin-based Mark Henning then grabs it by the bell-end and, obviously in unhinged mood, injects all manner of sheet metal mayhem and undergrowth nastiness. Kruger’s second track ‘What The’, is an intoxicating floor-destroyer, built on rattling percussion while recalling early Weatherall/Slam in the rising chords, while ‘Response’ rides huge, swelling bass into a whirlpool of heavy-duty sonic bestiality, mayhem quotient upped by the arrival of ‘Mentasm’ hoover action. Perversely brilliant.
