Andy Butler (previously known as the engine to all things Hercules and Love Affair) delivers ahugelly satisfying two track ep for his forthcoming album ‘Shine’. ‘You Can Shine’ featuring New Yorker Rochard Kennedy is a high energy, impassioned techno soul outing a la Robert Owens / Larry Heard / Terrence Parker that grooves hard, soars high and will have you shouting ‘amen’ with your hands raised in testament. It’s a future anthem for a hype hungry underground. ‘Personality Track’ flips the script with a thudding kick laced slab of slap bass driven tech house that bitch slaps you with its snares whilst playing the glockenspiel on your spinal column. The synths arpeggiate around the spoken word science bit, there’s a sparse, glacial breakdiown then we’re back on the gallop with the rest of the track. Tight song writing, precise arranging yet with full fat disco biscuits too. Pure fire.
