This is one of those records that makes you feel the sand between your toes even under an umbrella in the middle of a Mancunian torrential downpour. Ane Brun ‘One Last Try’ has a quirky yet smooth, folk vocal and emotive piano chords and melody that seduce your ear like whispered, stolen sweet nothings in a crowded room. And when the lyric is left bare ‘and even if a butterfly lives a 100 years, you and me, will still be the same, will be the same’ – you’re not sure whether your heart has just broken or if you’ve just fallen in love. Beautiful track.
