Deep, mellow house with a groove – that’s Ben Watt’s mixing philosophy on the fourth Buzzin’ Fly compilation, which proves easy on the ear but a distraction to the feet! The smoothness of his mixing is impressive but not robotic, so that subtle delights such as Manoo and Francois A’s ‘Magnetic’ unfold easily, this one blending well into Martin Brodin’s ‘Freaky Bleepy’. Watt’s co-effort with Jennifer Valone, ‘Approaching Phantom’, bookends the mix, which is clever – meaning that by the end you’re ready to start all over again. Classy stuff.
