At a time when it was in serious need of revitalisation, progressive house has literally hijacked beepy electro-house and turned it into its own (it’s all Tiefschwarz’s fault!). Eventful all the way, lively and funky with breakbeats sections here and there, ‘More’ is mysterious abstract house, spooky and epic but not too dark nor too dull or flat (125 BPM)
On the ‘Atari House (album sampler 1)’ Ben Camp goes for a similar evolution. In ‘Twister’ an arpeggiated bleep leads the charge whilst a deep moody pad bass builds the mood, bit by bit all the elements start clicking with each other, culminating into a chaotic climax that’s still melodic (126). ‘I H8 Make Music In The Morning’ goes for the techno jugular, maybe a bit much when you’ve just stumbled out of bed… (126).
