Ben Mono – Why – (Madtech)

If you like it dirty, sharp and a little bit twisted, Ben Mono’s dark tech ‘Why’ EP is most certainly for you. ‘Why’ is a bleepy, banging, art installation that looks different from every angle. Is it techno? Is it abstract industrial jazz? Is it marking the time to Lucifer’s workout? Who knows? All you should and will care about is that it sounds good and carries you through like a Transformer playing tiptoe through the tulips in some Armageddon strength urban wreckage. ‘Rather Kill Me’ works a Julio Bashmore sounding bass (fiver says you heard it first on his Bobby Womack ‘Lift You Up’ remix) into a housier kicking, boom bap ti-ti boom bap mix tool that could warm up your muscles if you were working out naked in the snow. Finally the Xandl remix of ‘Why’ puts curves where the acute angles once were and takes it down to the bumping acid grime underground. Why? Because you’ll like it.
