Every so often a tune comes along which, after 30 seconds, sends shivers down the neck which turn to convulsions of pure joy as it wends its magnificent path. ‘The Truth’ is such a tune, sending out similar signals to greats like ‘Knights Of The Jaguar’ or even ‘Strings Of Life’ with its relentless twisting around a spectacularly-simple piano motif before the string stabs breeze in straight out of Mayday’s bunker. Warm, melodic and soulful, it’s a stone classic, full of intoxicating subtleties. ‘Matador’ builds a shimmering web of Spanish-flavoured patterns over a walloping kick-castanet combination. Holland’s renowned Orlando will unleash three EPs on Finest Blend and, if this masterpiece is anything to go on, we’re in for some of those rare, genre-straddling treats which make this electronic dance music business worthwhile.
