Top marks to Jack Digitals for their best release yet, the strangely beguiling ‘Rhythm’. Richard’s original track sounds like a reinterpretation of early nineties hardcore. A four-four beat with all manner of fluttering breaks and odd ball sound effects. Interesting but not really one for our dance floors. The remixes however are really quite interesting. Dan Van Damn adopts a spacious minimal style and creates and atmospheric deep house groover that we like the more we listen to it: One that will appeal to both tech house and progressive heads. Our favourite is the “Scrap” remix. Occasionally we like to drop into this kind of percussive minimal house at the peak of a set when it’s guaranteed to drive everyone into a frenzy. It’s a really great example of how a bouncing bass and snappy snare can make your life complete. The breakdown also deserves a mention as the winner of this month’s filthiest club moment; a descent into pure gabba the likes of we have never heard before. Essential.
