If you’ve been buying records from the deeper end of the spectrum over the years, you’ve probably encountered this man’s work for labels like Warp, 2020 Vision, Playhouse, Soma, Klang, etc. This – his debut for Glasgow’s Seventh Sign Records – sees him in classic deep house territory, hinting at some of those classic Detroit sounds that could have come from any time in the last decade. “Count On It”, the lead track, is the one likely to garner floor action, a simple repetitive workout with tinkling effects and the kind of bassline you feel rather than hear; “Reprise” mixes disco elements into a tech-ish, drifting background, electronic clicks giving it an edgy feel; lastly, “Fast Lane” is a lush bassline mover padded out with lithe chords and bubbling spaced out synths. Classy late night music that never ages.
