This isn’t the ‘Heartbreaker’ in the Metronomy sense, but the result of an excellent collaboration between John Legend and the Canadian boys. Legend has been putting himself about a bit musically of late, and this is a fine, piano led song that talks of unrequited love. It has the catchiest of choruses, too – passing you by on the first listen or two but gradually making a path for the centre of your brain. Once there it won’t leave, as you’ll also remember a punchy, funky backing that works a treat, sounding a bit more like Frenchified house with the guitars down in the mix. A fine song, this – and one that whets the appetite for the next MSTRKRFT album, due at the end of July.
