Chicken Lips have jumped ship and set themselves Adrift, taking their spaced out disco into new territories. ‘White Dwarf’ features vocalist Johnny Spencer and in itâs original form the first thing that comes to mind is David Bowie during his ‘Young Americans’ and ‘Station To Station’ period, as funky blue eyed soul, riding on familiar rhythms oozes from the speakers. Meecham and Meredith also deliver a Zeefungkt mix along with a dub. Josh Wink turns in an excellent remix built on chunky percussive house, putting a twisted vocoder on the vocal, whilst gradually tweaking acid does more than rise to the occasion, as he totally transforms the whole feel of the track. Another outstanding mix is Juan Maclean’s funky Paisley Park vibe. All in all ‘White Dwarf’ comes in 7 tasty mixes that are well worth getting your teeth into.
