One of the year’s maybe unexpected delights has been the steady stream of tunes emanating from White Noise honcho Colin Hobbs: each one different, every one a winner. In my humble opinion the cloud-skimming deep techno of ‘Ocean Trench’ has been a highlight but ‘Coming Up’ was a fairly devastating follow-up with its Christian Hoff remix. Now he’s taken yet another different turn and come up with a simply, cruising electro-flavoured instrumental as a perfect summer soundtrack, all warm, shimmering and melodic. Once again, there’s a killer remix, this time the mighty King Roc with an episodic epic of monstrous proportions. Initially darker and more minimal, it keeps peaking with crashing crescendos, going ever upwards until the effect is like a twinkling constellation of spangled euphoria. Can only be pretty massive.
