Daddy’s Groove return to the fray with ‘Blackout’ possibly their most crossover and dancefloor friendly outing so far. No surprises here since it arrives riding the waves of a summer spent supporting the untouchable pop Midas, David Guetta. ‘Blackout’ sports transformed synth pads that waver wildly in the festival wind. It’s chopped up with harsh yet jubilant piano keys, is right for rampant raving but is also a jump off that owes more to the radio / nightclub than the moshpit. Does ‘Blackout’ mark the beginnings of a return to house music that people can dance to and that doesn’t make them feel like they’ve fallen into an open roadworks site? I wonder …
