Dan Ghenacia & Chris Carrier’s jittery funk sits so easily upon Apollonia that you want it to push firmly at the edges to start making make sense. ‘Schatzi’ follows up on your expectation with a shuffling drum groove that soon gets agitated by all sorts of sounds and effects but which crucially keeps you locked into its way of thinking. ‘Habibi’ then fuels the fire with funkier breaks coursing several minutes of tense soundscapes, leaving the chiming tones of the rolling ‘Cherie’ to end on a slightly sweeter note.
