David Guetta takes the old Nancy Sinatra / Cher, lover spurned torch song and fashions it into a kick ass, jack booted, Jack Back signature progressive house banger. It’s not your usual Guetta silver dancefloor bullet though since the Skylar’s (and the song itself’s) vocal drone has a ‘screeches brakes on, then handbrake turns before skidding into a plate glass window’ effect on the track. There have been many pretenders in the BANG BANG hall of infamy none of whom has ever really hit the target. The best version by the Audio Bullys in 2008 (at around the time of Kill Bill 2) was well received and charted high enough but whenever I played it (or heard it played) in a club it never quite blew them away as expected. To be fair most jobbing djs now won’t remember nor even care what happened in 2008 and Guetta is not short of followers so if anyone can make this work well and sell better than the Audio Bullys then David Guetta is definitely your man.
