The combination of rent-a-diva Michelle Weeks and acclaimed American garage
producer DJ Disciple is a temping one on its own, but add a choice electro
riff and phat drums to power the engine-room and the record is as good as
sold. With an optimistic subtext Week’s flutters to tingly heights and then
drops to sultry whispers in the space of a few seconds with a super-subtle
but deeply evocative vocal performance. Perhaps a little tougher then fans
of both parties would expect, but very much what’s happening right now, with
even the usually soulful DJ Dove adding a harder-edge to his retooling.
