Ejeca – What You Think EP (Incl. David Jach Remix) – (Moda Black)

The Norn iron rave contingent have been knocking out some corkers in recent years, with the likes of Bicep and Space Dimension Controller bringing a consistent presence of quality rave tackle. Another producer who has been cementing Belfast in particular on the house music map has been Ejeca, and it’s something he continues with this really rather good three tracker for Moda Black.
Featuring two original productions and a remix, Ejeca gets in the zone on the feel good house tip which is perfect for the rapidly approaching onset of festival and Ibiza season. ‘What you think’ is classy filtered house of the variety that used to be a bigger part of the French export industry than red wine and foie gras, which manages to neatly layer a tight loop with rough and ready drums. The brief snippet of a shrieking vocal only continues to heighten the delirium, creating a track that somehow feels raw and almost clean and radio friendly at the same time.
On a much more polished tip is ‘Alone’, a brilliant juxtaposition of clean opening chords and one of those basslines that makes you smirk and nod at your mates when it comes on. When the stabs hit that smirk evolves into a full on grin and that weird moment whether you don’t know whether to pump your fist in the air or get your head down and dance, before evolving into a proper ravey beast. Yeah, one of them.
David Jach gets to grips with the latter on the remix front, which although loses the rave immediacy of the original (how could it not) turns in a decently paced remix heavy on the groove factor, doing enough with the varying parts to add something to the package. Which, overall, is bloody good. Essential listening.
