Breaks, nu garage, nu two step, nu broken beat, a genre by any other name is just as sweet and The Ephemerals’ ‘Life Is Good’ is good no matter which way you look at it. Chicky Boom’s remix takes it the warm, wavering synths, lightly plucked guitar and crisp beats broken like cracknel with a hammer in a master confectioner’s. The drop deserves a rewind every time and the groove is dancefloor catnip. With are as varied and far reaching as Gilles Peterson, Craig Charles, Groove Armada, DJ Target on radio to the Homeland TV series you know it’s going to be banging.
