Up until 1986 house music had just been a word-of-mouth clubbing phenomena like many others that had been and gone almost as quickly – Go Go music anyone? And then during the summer month’s copies of this Windy City track started showing up on the import racks, and things changed forever. Featuring the larger-than-life vocals of man-mountain Daryl Pandy, producer Farley Williams, hit onto a winning formula. His cover of a near-forgotten Isaac Hayes song hitting the coveted UK top 10 on the pop charts and in so doing opened the floodgates to a new genre. It returns for a third time (following another top 40 sortie in 1996) with Lifelike’s retread set to expose it to a whole new generation.
