Following his relocation to Berlin, Finn Greenall aka Fink returns to the stage with ‘Pilgrim’ a stripped down, rock-folk vocal travelogue with a constant guitar companion and an urgent rhythmic build. Paula Temple creates a brutal metal and concrete, techno soundscape that makes a skyscraper building site seem like a kids’ playground. Her taut and distressed rewiring is far from safe, there are no rounded edges or cushioned falls – sharpening and grinding and punching beats. Brandt Bauer Frick distil it to its minimal essence, fanning the flames with sunrays and building the tension with aural fractals. Moda 232 slide it through their sonic X-ray machine, highlighting the bones and joints, jangling the skeleton and nerve-endings. It snaps crisper than a broken bone in the Arctic. Finally Paulan Temple’s ‘Ambien Time’ remix takes it to crystal water for a swirling, floating blessing so deep, you’ll think that those are angels singing. It’s a gorgeous, cerebral package and a delight for techno fans and Fink aficianados alike.
