Yet another sure-fire funky release from the label again sees Soul Clap deliver deliciously refreshing music as only they can. FSQ is perhaps not surprisingly an acronym of Funk Style Quality that includes in its line-up associations with George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, which are blatantly apparent as soon as the bassline hits. Backed up by piercing Flute and Saxophone, choppy guitar and shuffling percussion this monster jam beckons the heat of sunshine in the cold of winter. The One Era Caribbean Disco Mix proceeds to play with the rhythms via a Calypso twist, while AbJo’s Midnight version breaks up the beats with an addictive swing. Mr CV’s Hula Hula Hvar Mix then supplies a welcome deeper edge, leaving excellent extra track ‘Naked is My Nature’ from Nick Monaco to round off with a FSQ Northern Soul Remix that deconstructs the genre into an altogether more forward thinking affair.
