FUNK D’VOID
LOVIN
SOMA

Lars Sandberg’s first Funk D’Void outing for three years comes as a total surprise after the warped creations he’s been ejaculating with Phil Kieran recently. It’s a euphoric house monster with lovely, breathy vocals from newcomer Jay LeBlone, which recalls the heady days when Strictly Rhythm was firing out a classic a week. There are elements of the early 90s Strictly-Nu Groove sound in the floor-shaking piano chords, a grove to die for and a large, heavenly drop. Hipp-E’s remix takes it a step further with a kind of Wild pitch strategy of adding ingredients like muted acid and propulsive dub touches. A hypnotic swirl which oozes class and would have murdered them at somewhere like the Shelter. Can’t wait for the album.
