Romina Johnson has an impressive house music pedigree, and ‘Can’t Let Me
Down’ is an ideal vehicle for her talents. When she sings ‘broken hearts
need some time to get around’ in the first verse it’s a heartfelt,
vulnerable vocal. George Morel brings solid beats to back her up, speeding
up for a smooth and classy ‘Groove’ mix. The JJK mix works really well,
taking a simple repeated keyboard riff and marrying it with the layered
vocals, moving to a winning breakdown. Meanwhile Olav Basoski’s ‘Surplus’
remix builds up warm, Balearic chords before kicking into a full beat and
the vocal track.
