After Midnight (Mixes)
Rebirth

There’s a wild cross-breeding of dance music styles running amok in this latest deadly weapon Italy’s mighty Rebirth who, this time, have come up with an unadulterated, early 80s NY-style disco anthem, blessed with simple house piano riff and one of those vocals which instantly catapults the erogenous zones to whoopee level. Created by Sao Paolo duo Glocal, who use the vocals in a variety of complimentary styles from rapping to elevatory chorus and the odd whisper. Pure after midnight heaven which then gets a slew of remixes: Valencia’s Affkt& Danny Fiddo vamp up the groove and saddle up new boisterous new bassline in vocal and dub versions; Hyena Stomp – a new project launched by Nico De Ceglia and Severino of Horse Meat Disco – turn in a bass-propelled floor torpedo; The spectacular Rotciv Re-Edit welds gorgeous vocal touches and a barrage of lustrous boogie flavours in the grand tradition of his Mister Mystery label; Chilean musical veteran Jorge Gonzalez – aka Los Updates creates a gauzy, dubby feel over humping bass, providing another great setting for that impossible-to-shift piano riff; Lnx& Davis’ Old Is Cool Mix harks back to the birth of NY house with rich new piano, strings and bass which, joined by whispers and bongos, creates a compulsively sexy new vibe. Every Rebirth release I seem to say this, but they’ve outdone themselves again. Sometimes old is cool [and gems like this indeed back me up!].
