Haji & Emanuel Ft. Beverly Knight & Bryan Chambers
The Pressure
Big Love

It takes a lot of balls to cover a Sounds Of Blackness song, especially ‘The Pressure’, the triumphant gospel ode to the riggers of modern living as told back in 1991 in captivating style by Ann Nesby. The Jam & Lewis composition is a timeless number, but with seasoned UK vocalists Beverly Knight and Bryan Chambers sharing vocal chores they more then match the epic task in hand. Kudos then to Messrs Haji & Emanuel for tackling another clubbing anthem and pulling it off with much aplomb – as they did with ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’, ‘Take Me Away’ and ‘Weekend’. There’s a veritable plethora of remixes to choose from including interpretations from Shakedown, Gold Ryan & Tapesh, Swanky Tunes and The Layabouts – but it’s the Original and Seamus Haji’s own version that relieves the tension with me.
