Originally out in 1983, ‘Weekend’ is one of those legendary NY tracks which bridged disco to house in fine Salsoul fashion. To fully re-work such a classic screamer ain’t an easy task but Seamus Haji & Paul Emanuel have managed to refresh it efficiently without losing any of the original’s spirit (125 BPM). The pair’s vocal and dub mixes have that spot on Joey Negro’s polish only with a little extra modernity thrown in (electro-ey bass, warm analog pads, stingy synth seqs).
