Hunter / Game – Genesis EP – (Just This)

If you like haunting, atmospheric deep house, look no further than Hunter / Game’s ‘GenesisEP’. ‘Genesis itself is a treasure trove that stimulates your senses with its aural gris-gris, amulets and trinkets – a little guitar here for good luck, synths for safe keeping, and a soft kick to cushion your fall down –the rabbit hole. The Ripperton remix widens the angles and smoothes the curves, looping the piano keys with a flourish, powering the beat with swirling white noise, ethnic percussion and sexy, zipped synth steam. It’s a terrace sunshine special make no mistake. ‘Tree Of Life’ is a dive into fathomless, uncharted waters, shimmering and sparkling in the clear then dropping to the darkest depths as the percussion and pizzicato strings shoal around each other. Chymera add a steady kick and add a few degrees to ‘Tree Of Life’s ambient temperature, tempting and teasing you onto the dancefloor like a siren of the sea. Beautiful music that would sound as at home on Openlab or Ibiza Sonica as it would in your headphones or on a sandy dancefloor somewhere. Electronica for the aficionado.
