I’ve been watching iLL BLU for the last couple of years, he consistently gets the basslines and the bounce just right and this collaboration with Jack N Danny is just that and a bag of tricks. ‘Heartbeat’ has a bluesy, haunting vocal, a song full of unrequited love and a bass that plucks at your heartstrings like Cupid on crystal meth. ‘Mutha F*cker’ is a Neneh Cherry sampling, grime fest with rave breaks and a bass that holds the whole thing steadier than an anchor on a steel rope. It’s a deadly weapon for the 1Xtra, Capital and Rinse generation.
