Although Australia has been responsible for an increasing amount of impressive dance music of late, it still came as a bit of a shock to encounter an EP which sounds like it could’ve been made in early 80s New York – that period between disco and house when electronic sounds were being felt up and explored resulting in what was sometimes called boogie. Sydney’s Jamie Lloyd managed to capture that with an element of Prince-funk on his sublime ‘Adori’s Kitchen’ and now shows that wasn’t just a one-off with three new cuts of impeccable sleekness and funk. The original 107bpm space-disco vamp sets the tone, recalling the great Began Czekic of ‘Burnin’ Up’ fame. Suitably, remixer Brennan Green is from NYC and his eight minute remix is a cool monster with Indeep lope and irresistible vibe. But then the Prince-tinged ‘Zooptron’ and ‘All The Honey’ continue the party and etch Jamie’s name firmly in the brain and on the sternest posterior.
