It’s not really clear from the blurb on this release whether the names selected relate to their DJ namesakes, but ‘Heidi’s jack’ certainly has a bit of the tousle haired deck destroyer about it. It’s the kind of low slung swaggering acid house she laps up, and a remix from Jay Kurmis makes it even more appealing – especially when the straight played drums make way for a fully reverberating snyth line.
‘Martinez’ though seems to be a track all out on it’s own though, a slowly whirring groove that snarls with mechanic fervour as it seemingly slips out of sync as it processes, a subtle trick of the off kilter rhythm. It couldn’t be any more naked in it’s ambition for taking centre stage at twisted sessions at Burning Man, making for a hypnotic track that when worked properly will melt any ravers head.
