I haven’t liked everything that the Dope Man has produced recently but this collection of three tracks is little short of excellent. ‘Stormy Weather’ will undoubtedly satisfy the purists with its irresistible keys and traditionally soulful vocals on this very effective song. While ‘Deep Shit’ does exactly that by building layers of rhythm and tripped-out voices to shake the bass bins. However ‘Roots’ is by far my favourite of the three with a classy combination of jazzy grooves, rich percussion and pure atmosphere.
