Terrence Dixon is one of the lesser-sung Detroit techno producers because he’s always followed his own path without much chest-beating, despite having collaborated with Claude Young, appearing on Metroplex and Tresor [as Infiniti] and collaborating with UR. Underline don’t push themselves too much either, preferring to released quality techno without much fuss. Each of the five tracks on Terrence’s new EP is like a mood piece. ‘Directions’ rides an old school electro groove sprinkled with electronic rain, ‘In-Flight’ is dark and melodic and ‘Order of Operations’ strips down to a stark pattering. Side B goes further out with ‘Transit’ pursuing an abstract electronic soundscape while ‘Remember Rescue’ is a deep and ethereal pulser which hangs in the ether long after it’s finished. Timelessly great. As they used to say back in the day, music for those who know.
