Chilean DJ/producer Larry Peters has led a long and chequered history in the dance music domain, with many an expert label picking up on his talents over the years. His most recent endeavours see him turn his hand to producing for the eMBI Music Ltd imprint (the sister label of eMBI) – And the early signs would seem to suggest that he’s very much on the money once again here. The four-tracker starts off with the title-tack, Character’, which is a potent partystarter that makes sumptuous use of some swelling synths, and a twisting and turning demeanor that makes for a real seductive dancefloor killer. Peters then joins forces with UMHO for the second original, ‘Eeeicha!’, which is another tech-house banger full of panache and flair. Really hypnotic and full of spiky blissful sheens, this one will certainly turn heads on the dancefloor. The first of the remixes kick off with Miguel Lobo, who re-interprets ‘Character’ into tougher and more unpredictable fashion. The chords work majestically too, keeping us firmly enthralled before the glistening synths enter the fray. Label owner Daniela Casa is then given the task of tackling ‘‘Eeeicha!’’ right after, and rather than go all out, he leans on a series of beguiling sounds keep us in check. All things considered, this is a solid maelstrom of house-inclined sounds from a label that seems set for a promising future.
