Absolutely towering set here from Italy’s ever-firing Rebirth which sees DJ Ruggero launching himself into the highest-profile recording arena as Leon, joined by Basement Jaxx songstress Corrina. The original is a deep, haunting outing built drenched in atmosphere with Corinna’s superlative, soulful vocal taking it somewhere else. That would be enough under normal circumstances but then Deetron comes in to build a pair of mixes which really are not of this planet. His Spring Leaves Mix is constructed around a weighty Rhodes piano shimmer and tension-building high string, Corrina swooping and soaring while down in the engine room a propulsive barrage of percussion maintains a subtly-motoring momentum. Deetron’s Believer Mix spaces out the main ingredients further while adding a chunky old school acid house riff amidst extra Detroit flavours. Both mixes also come in Dub form. You will be stunned. Pitto’s remix, assisted by Joris Voorn, homes in on the original’s deep house tip[, adding sax and a juddering undertow. An all-round ‘Phwoar!’.
